Brief work history
Before joining UCT in 2009, Janetta lectured nutrition at Stellenbosch University, Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Cape Town in a part time capacity for a period of five years, while continuing her studies in nutrition and genetics and running a private practice. Her private practice experience was mostly focused on the management of obesity, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome as well as sports nutrition. Her special interest lies in sports nutrition and the dietary treatment of obesity and other chronic diseases of lifestyle such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Since 2008, she has also been serving as nutrition research consultant on a NIH funded project concerning alcohol consumption and pregnancy outcomes in USA and RSA populations run by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Stellenbosch University.
Intervention programs with dietary, physical activity and behavioural treatment components for obesity, metabolic syndrome and chronic diseases of lifestyle such as diabetes and CVD.
